How To Instantly Turn Your "Bad" Day Good!

Everyone has those days where they wake up on the wrong side of the bed, dreading looking at their never-ending to do list and instantly begin stressing over upcoming deadlines. Nothing is going your way and you could have a leading role in Daniel Powter's music video for "Bad Day". Even if you don't have those days, sympathize with those of us who do! It's perfectly normal to be grouchy every once in a while but why be miserable when there's so many wonderful reasons to be happy!? Ditch those bad day blues and make the most of every moment with a positive attitude and giant smile. Here's how:

Brew Some Tea:
Or coffee or whatever your favorite instant-perk beverage is. I love green tea with a little bit of honey in the  morning before I strap on my seat belt and start plugging away at those daily tasks!

Move That Bod:
Go for a run, stroll around the neighborhood or stretch at your desk. Regardless of your activity of choice, get out of bed and move around. This will help with blood flow to your brain to get those gears grinding!

Vent:
The urge to complain is normal. When things suck, call up your buddy of choice (thanks Mom!) and get out what it is that's bothering you. Once you've said it, let it go. Talk about something else and move on.

Eat:
Stress does weird things to our appetites. If you've got a lot on your plate and you're not eating or you're only eating a dollar menu diet STOP IT. Good food with healthy nutrients gives you energy and will release endorphins that make you happy! Healthy food like fresh fruits and veggies, whole grains and fiber will not only make you feel better but you'll look better too! Winning!

Break Time:
You're not a machine and let's face it sometimes even our favorite machines take breaks (I'm talking to you dead flat iron!) so allot yourself a little bit of time to relax. Read your favorite magazine- or you're favorite blog ;) or paint your nails. You'll be able to return to whatever it was that you were doing with a fresh mind and un-chipped nail polish!

Plan Ahead:
Different things work for different people. Some people like to bake cookies when their stressed (I confess!) and other just need a this Youtube video to cheer them up! Take some deep breaths, grab a snack and figure out what works best for you. If you like drinking tea to calm your nerves, then keep your tea bags stocked, if your secret candy stash is your go-to stress reliever then make sure it's got your faves! Plan ahead and soothe the stress before it gets out of hand!

Look Forward To Something:
Make a movie date with the girls, plan a visit with Grandma, grab an ice cream cone with your cutest guy friend or pencil in a road race to you planner. Pick something that makes you happy and it will keep you pushing through that pile of misery that's got you stressin'.

Run! (Or Workout!):
I can't even count how many times i've made the excuse for myself that i'm too tired or too busy to get to the gym or log some miles on the road. The funny thing is that whenever i've wiped the "sleepies" out of my eyes, laced up my sneaks and sucked it up, I've never regretted it. Working out will give you more energy for the entire day and fill your brain with some lovely endorphins that will keep you upbeat and happy. Whether you're a spin class diva or obsessed with Zumba, get out there and get moving. Any sweat is good sweat as far as i'm concerned- although I am personally partial to running!

Take these tips and put them to use kids! Stop the stress before it starts and make each day count! Next time you're walking around, smile at a stranger because even though you might be having an awesome day after you went for a run and sipped your cup of tea, that stranger might be having one of their worst!
